We are not restricted by silos and have access to all global markets.

This nimble approach secures close communication with the client and enables the very best individual result.

Miller was recently approached by a former client who moved to a major new corporation. Miller’s help was sought to provide solutions for critical Named Windstorm capacity (USD400m) for their Construction and Operational programmes.

A key element of our proposed solution was to set up a captive that would provide the following benefits:

  • Broadening options by enabling direct access to Facultative Reinsurance market capacity.
  • Reducing the frictional costs of multiple Fac brokers and creating more efficiencies in the process.
  • Splitting out the Named Wind from the Construction to facilitate markets to write differential lines.
  • This resulted in Miller securing significant Named Windstorm lines from markets who wrote far more conservative lines on the Construction.

In order to inform and educate markets regarding the wind/flood resilience of both operational and constructional plants, Miller carried out roadshows in Zurich, Munich, Paris, London, New York, Boston and Houston with the client. This joint client/Miller strategy played an important role in helping to positively differentiate the client as a risk and persuade markets to deploy the cat capacity in the required structure.

Collaboration, innovation and technical expertise are at the heart of our offering.

Miller’s team included our Nat Cat modelling team, and broking experience across colleagues specialising in Energy as well as Property/BI and from across our London, Bermuda, Europe and Asia offices.
